Grand Opening of Wabel's Liquor - 1955

This team of Clydesdale horses - with a Dalmation dog and monkey sitting aboard the coach - are arriving for the 1955 grand opening of Wabel's Drive-in Liquor Store. The business was located next to the Conoco Motel & Restaurant on West Second Street. Charlie "Floyd" Wabel and Bill Langdon are standing at left, next to the Clydesdales. A Standard sign and part of a motel are seen in the background including (on the right), as is the entry onto the old viaduct leading west out of Grand Island.
